#Thrive Thursday: Meet Lisa Erickson of Chakra Empowerment for Women

thrive thursday Mar 09, 2020

What is your story? Or in other words, what made you your awesome self you are today?

My passion these days is helping women connect to their energy body through mindfulness and meditation work for stress management, healing, goal attainment, and empowerment. But that wasn’t always the case – I began my career in technology, and worked long days against tight deadlines for years. It took a toll on my mind and body, which led me to meditation. Chakra (energy center) meditation, in particular, was life-changing for me, validating energetic and intuitive experiences I had had my entire life, but never had the language to understand. I began seriously studying energy healing and chakra meditation on the side and did that for many years.

A health crisis after the birth of my first daughter triggered a bigger shift and ultimately led me to my current work. The medical establishment wasn’t able to help me, and so I had to truly draw upon the energy healing training I had received in a deep way, and also research women’s energetic health more specifically. I unearthed powerful information that wasn’t well-known, and finally began to work as a meditation guide and energy worker focused on women. Over the first several years I was inundated with women who had experienced sexual trauma, and so that became a sub-specialty of mine as well.

What message do you promote?

That any woman can learn to connect to her chakras, that women, in particular, can benefit from doing so, and that our life transits and crises’ offer amazing opportunities for growth and healing.

In what capacity do you LEAD UP in your community?

I have become a leading expert on women’s energetics – the unique attributes of women’s energy bodies and chakras, including how they shift during menstruation, pregnancy, post-partum, perimenopause and menopause. I have also become a leader in the field of self-guided energy work for healing sexual trauma and trauma-informed methods. I am particularly focused on empowering other women to do this work themselves.

In business and/or in life, share a struggle you overcame that other women can relate to

Leaving my stable and successful technology career to embark on an energy healing and meditation teaching business was a big risk, for myself and my family. I experienced a lot of self-doubt, and fears of how others would perceive what I was doing. Fortunately, I had the support of my husband and was able to grow the business organically, experimenting with formatting and marketing at a gentle pace to discover what worked for both me and my clients. I used my own chakra meditations and empowerments to aid me in overcoming my fear and activating intuitive insights on what might work. I continued to pursue professional training and mentors for guidance. All of these efforts have paid off in a successful client business that I love, and two book contracts (Chakra Empowerment For Women came out December 2019 and The Art and Science of Meditation comes out in July 2020.)

What is the most rewarding aspect of what you do?

Witnessing the growth of others, and being a part of it. It is an honor and privilege to contribute to someone’s healing and empowerment and to watch how it transforms their lives. It reaffirms for me the inner spirit we all possess and the power of connecting to it.

How do you SHOW UP?

Showing up for me is being fully present to whatever each moment has to offer, and choosing the energy I want to bring to a situation, rather than being reactive. Often when I am able to do this, I will see a positive opportunity in what initially appears to be a setback or obstacle. I also show up by trying to mirror this for my family, clients, and friends. We are all connected, and what we each emanate out can help set the vibration for others.

If you could give one piece of advice for women who are entering the workforce or launching their own business what would that be?

Identify your strengths, and reaffirm them for yourself daily. Identify your weaknesses and work to improve in those areas every day. Develop self-care routines that will help you stay healthy, balanced and unstressed. Allow your business to develop organically – build in time and space for experimentation, and approach this with an open mind, rather than being certain that you need to ‘see’ how it should all be before you begin. And consider connecting with your chakras – for energetic boundaries, healing, and empowerment.
