What is your story? Or in other words, what made you your awesome self you are today?
I come from a long line of entrepreneurs. My great grandfather sold hats in Michigan during the winters of The Great Depression. My grandfather spent his days cranking a printing press for the local businesses. My father remodels homes for now 3 generations of homeowners. Hustle runs in my family line. Staying close to those roots inspires my business choices.
I spent several years in corporate America before returning to my entrepreneur roots. The amount of support I offered executives as a staff communicator would offer fulfillment. Witnessing corporate waste, greed, and red-tape bureaucracy left me disenchanted with the corporate environment at large.
As I edged towards a career change, I thought back to the sacrifices of my family. We came to accept that sometimes, work had to come first. Every penny contributes to food on the table, lessons for kids, and providing for those we love. What does $40 mean to the corporate world? (Hint: Nothing)
So I left and took the efficiency of corporate management systems with me. I sought to harness automation, delegation, and process management into small business.
In other words: I have the dream of giving small business owners their lives back.
Fast forward to the present:
My Clone Solution was founded in 2014. Our Clones live by the vision that everyone deserves help. Our dream is for everyone to live their dreams. We not only keep small business in business, we empower them to live in their superpower.
What message do you promote?
Managing your business doesn’t have to be hard. Really. The constant bombardment of asks, tasks, and admin work is enough to drive anyone mad. Dust on digital marketing and most business owners find themselves feeling stuck.
How do you ask for help when you don’t know what to ask?
Develop a process, delegate it to a trustworthy partner, and focus on your superpower. We teach business owners to break down their business into streamlined systems that run on their own.
In what capacity do you LEAD UP in your community?
Tampa Bay is a community that thrives on entrepreneurship and technology. I spend my time lending my expertise to those that need them the most. Budding entrepreneurs that need training to make themselves more employable, nonprofits that need a virtual presence, or students in underserved neighborhoods that need to find a career path.
We work in an industry that anyone can break into if they have the right training. We provide that training.
In business and/or in life, share a struggle you overcame that other women can relate to
My story is just a different version of yours.
Bullies, naysayers, a string of narcissistic relationships, and false superiors making life more difficult than it must be. We all have things that trigger us.
I never lacked confidence in my abilities. Knowing my worth and being able to stand up for myself was a very hard lesson.
The turning point for me was when a former boss of mine said “just do it, I don’t pay you to think you're just the goddamn admin”. He was not the first and he wasn’t the last, but I thought he had respect for me.
I left that job after being passed over for a promotion that I wanted and being put in a position that was a setup to fail.
When I left… they found out that I was saving them over 20k a year in printing costs with my connections. When they went to use service providers that I had cultivated they lost all the “Brook Discounts” that I had secured and they lost the person that did everything for 18 people. At the beginning of my tenure there were 4 of us, at the end it was just me doing the job of 4.
I grossed 4x his salary last year and my clients got all the value that I learned while I was “just the goddamn admin”.
What is the most rewarding aspect of what you do?
I get to help our clients be better business owners. Saving them from decisions that will cost them time and money.
There is nothing more rewarding than cultivating talented people that want to make a difference.
How do you SHOW UP?
READY TO WORK and make the shifts that are needed to move forward! I believe in taking action.
If you could give one piece of advice for women who are entering the workforce or launching their own business what would that be?
Whatever it is that you do, be the best at it you can be! Learn everything you can, take advice but always second guess it, and own your blessings and lessons.
MOST OF ALL. Choose the people that you work with by asking yourself one question:
“If they got hit by a bus what would happen to __________ (our arrangement, my product, my service.. etc) ?”
If they answer with anything other than a solid plan. Do not do business with them.
By the way… always have your answer ready for this too.
Please provide your name, company, anything else you want others to know about you, and all of your URL’s and social media handles
