What is your story? Or in other words, what made you your awesome self you are today?
I have always been a happy person since I can remember. I come from a large, extremely close Italian family. I learned from my parents how to love unconditionally. I am blessed with close friendships that I have had since childhood. I am a lucky Momma of 3 great children. There have been some obstacles in my life too, which made opportunities to grow and learn about myself. It has made me independent and confident in the decisions I make in life. Woman, in general, wears many hats: Daughter, Sister, Employee, Wife, and Mom. I have learned to enjoy each moment in time. My advice to others would be, “Try to make every day special and remember to smile.”
What message do you promote?
Positivity. I wake up and get my work done with a smile. I am thankful for every day, for my family, friends, and all of the things I have learned in my life. With every not so great moment in my life, I have gained strength and confidence. Those lessons have made me who I am today.
In what capacity do you LEAD UP in your community?
I volunteered for ten years in the community for the American Girl yearly fashion show. The proceeds went to our local hospital for the underprivileged and helped buy medicine, car seats, etc. for those who could not afford it.
In addition, I volunteered for an organization called Retrouvaille. I became a board member for a few years. The program helps fix broken marriages. It was a wonderful way to connect with others who were also struggling. It gives you tools to help with communication and empathy for your spouse.
In business and/or in life, share a struggle you overcame that other women can relate to?
A recent separation from my husband of 24 years has been a huge struggle for me. I had to learn that a failed marriage does not make me a failure. It was hard to realize that I would most likely not celebrate the 25th anniversary with anyone.
My mental and physical health could not be compromised anymore. I had to make some major changes in my life. The peaceful life I live now is worth the sacrifices I made.
What is the most rewarding aspect of what you do?
Being a Travel Agent comes with the benefit of working with couples and families who want to create wonderful memories to have forever. I can share my knowledge of the Sandals and Beaches properties with them and make sure their vacation is everything they have dreamed of. When I touch base with them after their vacation is over, it is super rewarding. Hearing about their vacation warms my heart.
How do you SHOW UP?
I love what I do for my business. I always have a positive attitude, and I am eager to step up for each challenge. I am not afraid to work hard to get the results I want, and I never give up. Great things in life are worth the fight. Trust in your inner passion, and make your dreams come true.
If you could give one piece of advice for women who are entering the workforce or launching their own business what would that be?
I started my DBA as a Travel Agent when my kids were 5, 9, 12 years old. I also still work for my full-time job. I would work all day for my main job and then put in another 30 hours building my business with training, researching, and helping customers. I sold every product I could. While I did learn a lot, it took away valuable hours from my children that I cannot get back now. My advice is to have a day off or two, where you focus on your family. Have set hours to work on your business. Yes, you may lose a sale here or there because you didn’t answer the phone, but it will be worth it when your kids have their Mom more.
Also, I now specialize in one product, Sandals and Beaches resorts. I have been to their resorts on all different Caribbean islands. It has helped me to focus and specialize in this one product. I am more confident in my knowledge and can share my personal experience and opinion from my trips there and all the training I have completed.
