#Thrive Thursday: Meet Rocio Vivanco Van Korlaar, of Wasi Investments

thrive thursday Jul 15, 2020

What is your story? Or in other words, what made you your awesome self you are today?

I am the owner of Wasi Investments, LLC, a fully diversified real estate investment company. I live in Orange County, CA, and I have mastered long-distance investing. My main territories are Las Vegas and Indianapolis, among others. I flip houses and own a portfolio of rental properties of single and multi-family units. I also own short term rentals, commonly known as Airbnbs. After the 2008 recession, I was motivated to change careers. I had just graduated with a focus in international business with a minor in Chinese. However, I wanted to be more in control of my future. My current career has allowed me to achieve that and more. It is also a testament that a young, female immigrant can lead and provide jobs in a male-dominated industry.  It comes with its challenges, but I have learned to enjoy them.

I immigrated to America at the age of 17. Contrary to many immigrant stories, I had...

What is your story? Or in other words, what made you your awesome self you are today?

My passion came to life 34 years ago. Once married, and mother to two wonderful boys (and two fur babies), I was running successful networking and software companies in England. After facing my own mortality for a second time, we packed up home and moved to Egypt, where we were gifted the misadventure of the Egyptian Uprising 6 months later.

That didn’t that stop me from teaching, coaching, and writing my first book Friday Bridge.

I soon came to realize I was missing something, some would say my true calling, living my life on my own terms. I knew that I needed to be near or on the ocean; so I took the leap of faith and created a location free lifestyle. The ocean sings to me and delivers great emotion with each wave, whale spout, dolphin spin, or penguin waddle.

In short, I’m an international bestselling author, keynote speaker, author coach, and mermaid empowering women to live...

The guide to feeling your best self and using your powerful voice

podcasts Jul 06, 2020

Another amazing episode of Speak Up to Lead Up this week as we welcome guests Ann Andrews and Sandra Hill to the show! Ann shared how important it is to recognize what we wear, how we feel and she spoke to identifying her own innocence, and how painful that was for her as a child. I loved her advice of printing a photo of us as a child and placing it on the mirror as a memory to remind us daily that she is still in there and if we build a strong platform of positive words to remind us how amazing we are, we will not allow the labels to stick. Sandra had some WIFI issues with her thunderstorms that rolled in, but that certainly didn't make the weight of her advice any lighter. She strongly advises our youth to remember that they can be more, do more, and speak more. Her work is so important to focus on our youth and allow their journeys to be about self-discovery and who they authentically are. This was a powerful conversation that I invite you to join!

#Thrive Thursday: Meet Michelle Cirocco, Exec Director at Televerde

thrive thursday Jul 01, 2020

What is your story? Or in other words, what made you your awesome self you are today?

This seems like such a simple question, but it isn’t. It’s very easy to define ourselves and our stories by our careers, but we are so much more than that. I think women generally have a difficult time defining who we are outside of our careers and our children. It is very easy to define ourselves as a mother, a wife, an executive, etc. But the challenge comes when we look beyond these roles. We give so much time to everything else that we often lose sight of who we are inside.

I am all of these things: a mother, a wife, a new grandmother, a daughter, an executive at a sales and marketing company, the executive director of a non-profit, but I am also a convicted felon. I’m a woman who through my own actions, made a huge mess of my life, then faced the consequences head-on. It is through this experience that I define who I am today.

I am a woman who is capable of anything I set my...

#Thrive Thursday: Meet Jean Kuhn, Serial Entrepreneur and Author

thrive thursday Jun 30, 2020

What is your story? Or in other words, what made you your awesome self you are today?

I knew I wasn’t going back to a job I hated once my first baby was born. Over 35 years of being an entrepreneur, I have started, closed, and sold a lot of different businesses. It took me about 17 years to really figure it all out. In 2002, I bought a bankrupt retail brick and mortar business and turned it around in 12 months. I brought the company profitable and added $100,000 to the bottom line. In 2006, I bought another bankrupt retail brick and mortar company and turned it around in less than 12 months, again adding over $100,000 to the bottom line.

What message do you promote?

I help business owners, turnaround a stagnant business, and increase their cash flow fast.

In what capacity do you LEAD UP in your community?

I’m seen as a leader. I speak to groups all over the country but at home, I’m seen as the person you want to talk to about what strategy your...

#Thrive Thursday: Meet Kacey Hulse; Actor and creator at Kaceisms

thrive thursday Jun 24, 2020

What is your story? Or in other words, what made you your awesome self you are today?

Where do I start! Let’s just say I am your everyday average woman who has grown up with every challenge you can think of! As a child, I was a very heavy set and that was the start of a life long challenge dealing with my weight. It led to serious self-esteem issues from bullying and being judged for my appearance, and I felt limited in my opportunities to get involved in activities and social experiences. I ended up battling an eating disorder and depression, that to this day I have to fight off daily. I also have been through a very heartbreaking divorce, that as a member of the LDS church was very traumatic for me. This experience caused me to develop PTSD, and unfortunately lead me to fall away from the church and to be disfellowshipped. However, through all of this, I got back up on my feet every time I was knocked down and I kept fighting against the odds. Now, I fight to stay healthy, I...
