What is your story? Or in other words, what made you your awesome self you are today?

I like to say that I am the most perfectly imperfect coach. I have used my own foibles, miss-steps, and teachable moments and turned them into usable advice for my audience to benefit from in all areas of their lives, from relationships to career. Through my own journey, gaining multiple certifications in personal development and consulting with various experts, I developed the first comprehensive self-empowerment series of courses created specifically for Black women. Whether through geography or self-segregation, many of us are not exposed to important social, romantic, and professional skills and opportunities, which has historically limited us. My courses undo many faulty programming that has sabotaged too many of us when we should be winning. Everything from how far we feel we deserve to get in life, to who we feel we can marry, to what activities we can partake in and what opportunities are...

What is your story? Or in other words, what made you your awesome self you are today?

I came to NYC as a sculpting student. When I realized that I probably wouldn’t be able to support my family with a sculptor’s salary, I knew I had to switch gears. At 19 years old, I started working as an assistant in the underwear business and moved into sales. As a salesperson, I needed to really believe in what I was selling, so I insisted on designing everything I pitched. At 21, I got to work on my first business plan. Six years later, with just $15,000, Ariela & Associates was born.

My father was a rabbi, and my mother was embarrassed to tell the congregation what I did. She said, “When will you make real clothing so I can tell people what you do?” I said, “When I master this.” Over 25 years later, I’m still perfecting my craft and continuously looking ahead to how we can aim to be better.

What message do you promote?

What is your story? Or in other words, what made you your awesome self you are today?

I am one of the lucky ones to have led a very blessed life, it doesn’t mean it was without struggle, but I look back on all aspects with gratitude because it has made me who I am today. I was born in Australia, raised in Japan, and moved to Canada 30 years ago for what I thought would be Whistler's season and have never left! I was the oldest of 4 kids, and at 13, my father suddenly died of blood clots after surgery to remove a cancerous tumor. I became the second parent, as my sisters were on 3 and 5. I grew up fast but somehow had the wisdom to appreciate that while losing my Dad sucked (as I was a Daddy’s girl), he was still with me, sitting on my shoulder, guiding me. I also appreciated that I had been fortunate to have him in my life for 13 years; my youngest sister only had him for 3 years. 2 years after his passing, we moved back to Australia; I poured myself into my studies and...

What is your story? Or, in other words, what made you your awesome self you are today?

I grew up in Simi Valley, California. I had big dreams of growing up. Dancing was my passion, and I wanted to become a professional dancer. At the age of seventeen, my dreams slipped away when I became a teenage mom. Fortunately, I was blessed with great parents who were very caring and believed in me. They encouraged me to go to college and get good grades. I graduate college yet still found myself struggling financially.

After two failed marriages and a broken relationship, I walked away from it all. I started my life over three different times; ,I found myself in abusive relationships and disempowered each time. Then the third time, at 43 years old, I flew back home to my parents’ home, with my 3-year-old on my lap. I had no job, no money, no home, and no car. I felt like a complete failure, hurt, and defeated. I knew if I wanted things to change that I must change.

This was...

I would say, my awesome parents! I knew my superpower to influence others in a positive way from a young age knocking on doors telling people of Jesus. What is your story? Or in other words, what made you your awesome self you are today?

Let me tell you how, in my desperate search for my life purpose, I was missing the entire purpose of life.

I grew up very poor in Russia, often eating only potatoes and onions.

When I was 6, I stole money from my parents. I happily hid the money behind the closet, thinking that I would save it, so by the time I grew up, the money would magically multiply, and I would help my family buy a house and get out of poverty...

My dream broke into pieces when my mom caught me. I felt so embarrassed and ashamed.

At this moment, I decided, “I HAVE to make my own money.”

So, I started to work hard ever since I was 14.

By the time I was 24 yrs old, I was living an extravagant life. I worked for a billionaire. I managed his schedule and created systems in the company. I earned six figures and lived in Manhattan. I bought a restaurant, two grocery stores, and a house for my...

What is your story? Or in other words, what made you your awesome self you are today?

This can be quite a long story! But in a nutshell, what made me the awesome self I am today began with my decision to live for myself first and drop the habits that were holding me hostage so that I could live free. And when I say live free, I mean free from all negative attachments, impulsive actions, and people-pleasing codependency! Today I am able to receive the gifts in all experiences. I am capable of embracing every difficult situation. I am strong enough to sit in and move through traumatic experiences.

What message do you promote?

Everyone deserves to live free. This is your life too; it can look, feel, be, any way you want it to.

In what capacity do you LEAD UP in your community?

People who engage in the standard practices of breaking bad habits have no idea what it really takes to do so. They don't know that you must condition a new way of responding in place of...

#Thrive Thursday: Meet Anastasia Blaszczyk, Aging Parents Management

What is your story? Or in other words, what made you your awesome self you are today?

I created a support network that my sister and I wished we had while in the role of Caregivers for our aging parents. Growing up, our mom was always inspiring my sister and me, but it was her passing that was the spark for the inspiration behind my business – Aging Parents Management. I remember those days following her passing as some of the most difficult ones in our life. Yes, because we were grieving, but on top of it was making all of her final arrangements, and now in the shadows was our 83-year-old Dad who was left living on his own.

Looking back a few years later, my sister and I kept asking ourselves– why were we so unprepared for all of this? There are two reasons: lack of awareness of this future responsibility and centralized information about it while you are doing it!

It turns out we are not alone in this struggle. There are many...

What is your story? Or in other words, what made you your awesome self you are today?

From the age of 11, I had a passion for becoming a sportswriter when there were no women sportswriters. But I manifested my dream through hard work, intention, and commitment—at the Detroit Free Press, LA Times, and Washington Post before I was 22. From there, I moved into sports PR, owning one of the leading agencies in America for 18 years. But I was “called” to write two books on Conscious Creation (the second was the best-spiritual-book-of-the-year at the International New Age Trade Show), and I realized that my heart was no longer in mainstream PR. It was in serving the messengers of the world—people who were improving someone’s life, business, or the planet. That became my new commitment. By giving more people more visibility to promote their mission, message, and methodologies, we would be changing the world together… and that’s what I do now. I...

#Thrive Thursday: Meet Nicole Snell, CEO & Speaker Girls Fight Back

thrive thursday Sep 17, 2020

What message do you promote?

My goal is to empower women and girls with self-defense, personal safety, and violence prevention tools because when we can live our lives confidently and freely, there is no limit to what we can do.  We are fully capable of defending themselves, and you are worth fighting for!

In what capacity do you LEAD UP in your community?

I teach women, girls, and people of all genders the basics of how to defend themselves using both their voice and their bodies.  I work with high schools, colleges, the military, corporations, and private groups to empower them with basic skills, boundary setting tools, and physical techniques they can use in their lives.  Last year I started an online series called #OutdoorDefense to offer women solo travelers/hikers/adventurers self-defense strategies they can use to feel confident and safe going out and doing what they love.  As a passionate solo traveler and hiker myself, this was very...
